We are really pleased to announce that ‘What If We Fly’ (Maria) will be re-joining us from The Isle of Man. We have been thinking a lot about the differences between online and conventional classes and the difference between drawing from a photograph, and drawing from an online model. In response we are designing the session around meditation so as an experiment you will see the model breathing.

We pay the model, zoom and PayPal charges, but keep the cost as low as feasible £5.40 before Monday and £6 afterwards.

This Wednesday Online Life Drawing Live !

This week we are really pleased that Marissa has agreed to model for us this week. She is Manchester based, a neighbour a good friend and the first person I drew in Manchester more years ago than either of us would like to remember! We are particularly fortunate as she is a journalist and always covers Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival, which of cause has been cancelled, Edinburgh’s loss is our gain!

This week we are privileged to have the ‘IncrediblyaverageJoe’ modelling for us (look him up on Instagram). Far from being average he has a wealth of talent, including ‘Remedial Massage Therapist (qualified)’, ‘Aerialist’, ‘Stilt Walker’, but most excitingly for me he is a Dancer, and very good one. We are in very good hands! He will respond to his current environment, and Joe to dictate this week’s poses. It may be our most interesting yet!

The Models Make the Class

It was another fantastic evening.

I have always said it is the models that make the event & I was really worried when we started running Online Classes, that we would often be using models we had never physically met. But the models we have used like Liat Adler last night have been really professional.

It looks easy on the night (we hope!) but that is because of the work behind the scenes, so we are eternally grateful.

Online Life Drawing Live with ‘Amina’

 

Wednesday 29th from 7pm

Really pleased to announce that Amina has agreed to return for our Online Class. Amina, like many others, made her modelling debut in our conventional class and has since become one of the most professional in the field.  She was one of the first we called on when we decided to go Online as we knew how well she would manage the new environment. So we are really pleased to welcome the return of our good friend Amina, she is bound to produce some interesting poses!

Looking for a Model

We have run conventional Life Drawing classes for nearly a decade.
Due to Covid we are now running Online classes,

Our class’s average thirty attendees, all dedicated to their practice, they are none judgemental, and one of the friendliest you could imagine.

One of the things we are hoping to do is to represent a broader range of diverse bodies, in particular with regards to gender appearance, as so far most of our models were normatively presenting.

I am looking for a Life Model who identifies as gender non-conforming, queer or non-binary.

 

You can be from anywhere in the world.

Technically they would also have to have a decent phone and or Laptop.

Life Drawing Live!

Online Drawing Class with Spin Spin Sophie!  Wednesday 15th July

This promises to be special, and to accommodate Sophie’s skills we are extending the class from 2hours, to two and a half hours. Starting off with a series of fast energetic poses (gesture drawings), before finishing with more sedate poses. This will really test your creativity!

Spin Spin Sophie is a training contortionist and performance artist from Edinburgh.

Sophie says: “As an artist who’s sole form of expression is movement, I was thrilled to discover the world of life modelling less than a year ago and have not looked back since. I love to challenge myself and the artist in creating twisted, bent, distorted shapes – prepare for some fast and interesting poses!”

Sophie will be heading to Portugal in September to begin her professional circus training at INAC Circus School (@inac.circusschool). You can follow her training on her Instagram profile: @spinspinsophie.
