Ours is a Life Drawing class. I consider it a major privilege the models offer us. Staying still and allowing us to study them for some considerable time. Many of us don’t even have friends that would be prepared to stay still and let us scrutinise them, clothed or unclothed. When offered this opportunity most of us draw the complete figure. But we don’t have to, some for example concentrate on portraits. But as in this example the artist has decided to draw something they find particularly difficult. The Feet. It is the feet that ground us, connect us to the earth. Getting them right, is difficult. The use of a shadow (in this example just hinted at) , can be really effective.
