Get Thinking…..

This week we plan to have two models.
And of course I emphasise plan, as those that attended last week know, things can go wrong!
But if they go right (most often they do!).
Drawing two people in the twenty minute time frame we employ is tricky…
especially if you are used to drawing one model…
So your approach may be different, perhaps more sketchy, or more abstract, or just line without detail…
This is a remarkable example from earlier this year.
You can see the artist is confident with figure drawing, the proportions are almost perfect. And details such as the way the eyes curve around the head, are a sure sign of experience and technique, the third dimension is implicit. The overall lack of detail in one sense (the face is simple, barely a few marks), and the amount of detail in another sense, not only are the models drawn, but the surface they pose on as well, you can tell they sit on cloth, and rumpled…
As I said this is a remarkable example from somebody (I imagine) with significant experience, so don’t expect to do the same, but do give it some preparatory thought!
